The Quincy Symphony Orchestra

The Quincy Symphony Orchestra, established in 1947 by George M. Irwin, performs five concerts annually. These include four subscription concerts, and three performances of an annual Young People's educational concert.

Music Director Bruce Briney strives to craft a season of diverse musical styles and performers, and to challenge our community musicians by performing major works from the standard repertoire, along with contemporary works.

We are committed to the creation of new music, and collaboration with living composers.

The Quincy area is filled with talented musicians!  The orchestra has 65 regular members.  Almost half have over 20 years of membership.  QSO musicians come from all walks of life and range in age from 16 to 80+.
Over 1,350 musicians have participated in the Quincy Symphony Orchestra over its history.

Regular auditions are held each year in late August.  Special auditions may be scheduled throughout the year for new residents.   There are openings in all string sections.   Wind, Brass, and Percussion players are welcome to audition for the substitute list.

Call the Symphony Office for information on scheduling an audition.  217-222-2856
