Ron Witzke has been a member of the voice faculty at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri since 1984. He maintains an active performance schedule, balancing his administrative and teaching responsibilities. Some of his operatic successes include roles in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Richard Strauss’s Salome, Verdi’s Rigoletto and Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City under the baton of Maestro Ward Holmquist. His oratorio credits include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, and Brahms’ Requiem. Recently, he performed with the Bowling Green (Kentucky) Chamber Orchestra, singing Mahler’s Lieder eines farhenden Gesellen. In December he sang Messiah with Mid-American Nazarene University and four performances of Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors in Springfield, Missouri under the auspices of The Messiah Project. Ron last appeared with the Philharmonia and the Kansas City Symphony Chorus in Rachmaninov’s The Bells. Ron was a guest artist of the QSO for the 2006 performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana. |
