The
Quincy Area Youth Orchestra is currently accepting applications for
membership
for the 2007 season. Auditions will be
held Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 on Quincy University
North
Campus. Student musicians from all over
the tri-state area are encouraged to apply!
Members must have at least three years playing experience, be in grades
7-12 (6th graders with at
least three years experience may apply),
participate in their own school music program, and present a successful
audition. The audition is meant to determine proficiency on the
student's
instrument and to assign seating within the orchestra. The audition
will
include a prepared solo or etude approximately two minutes long, scales
to be
selected from concert C, G, F, D, and Bb, and sight reading.
Interested students should contact their
school music teacher, call 222-2856, or email qsoa@adams.net
for an application.
Under
the direction of Mrs. Christine Beason, the Youth Orchestra will share
the 53rd Annual Young Artists Concert on
February 10, 2008 with the Quincy Symphony, and will present its Spring
Concert
on April 13, 2008. The students in the QAYO will improve reading
skills, gain a
wider knowledge of orchestral literature, and gain musical leadership
skills to
help in their individual school programs.
Members of the Quincy Area Youth Orchestra will establish
life-long
friendships as they meet and work with students from all over the area
who
share similar interests. Please call
222-2856 for more information.
