Monica Simmons Scholz Soprano

Monica Scholz, a vocalist, choral director, and fine arts advocate, holds a B.A. in Music Education from Western Illinois University.  From 1985-1989, Monica was Choir Director at Kankakee High School.  Formerly Miss Kankakee (1987) and Miss Hancock-West Central (1989), she toured Alaskan military installations with the Miss America song and dance troupe "Queens". Ms. Scholz created and directed the Quincy Community Theatre "Stage Kids" and is currently vocal director of the QCT “Triple Threat Boot Camp”, a musical theatre camp for students in grades 4-college.  Leading roles in QCT productions include the Fantastiks, The Secret Garden, Into the Woods, A Grand Night for Singing, The Sound of Music, Nunsense and Kiss Me, Kate.  She has been a member of and soloist with the Quincy Symphony Chorus and Orchestra and Sunday Music Recital Series and was a founder of the Quincy Area Youth Chorus.  Monica was director of music at St. Peter Parish for 20 years, and is currently choral director at Quincy Notre Dame High School and for the Parochial Music Organization.  A recipient of the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award and the 2007 City of Quincy Arts Award, she frequently serves as an adjudicator and clinician at festivals, contests and pageants throughout the Midwest.  Ms. Scholz is a member of American Choral Directors’ Association, National Association for Music Education, and National Association of Pastoral Musicians.  Married to Chris, Monica is the proud mom of three musical sons – Adam, Nick and Ben.
