Calling all Community Musicians!

The Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association needs additional area musicians for its 60th Concert Season!  The Quincy Symphony Orchestra and Chorus are comprised of community musicians from Quincy and the surrounding area.

The Quincy Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Bruce Briney, rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:45PM beginning in September.  The orchestra will perform five full-orchestra programs throughout the 60th Anniversary Season.

The orchestra has immediate openings in all string sections, including violin, viola, cello, and double bass.    Additional talented brass, woodwind, and percussion players are needed for works with larger instrumentation requirements.  An audition will be held on Tuesday evening, August 28th for new players and for the substitute musicians list.  Musicians who have not auditioned in the past are encouraged to be heard by our new music director.  For more information, or to set up an audition time, please call the Symphony office at 217/222-2856 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Quincy Symphony Chorus is also looking for talented singers to join their forces this upcoming season.  The chorus meets on Monday evenings from 7:00-9:15PM at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, 435 South 9th Street beginning in September.

Persons interested in singing with the Symphony Chorus should contact Chorus Conductor Dr. Phyllis Robertson at 217/228-2866 to set up an audition.  Those who have sung with us in the past but did not sing last season are not required to audition, and are encouraged to call the Symphony Office at 222-2856 for registration information.  The Chorus will present a Holiday Concert on December 8.  They will present a Pops concert on March 1,  and will join the Quincy Symphony Orchestra for an exciting performance of  Bruckner’s Te Deum in April.
